Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Boosts Zaria Academy’s ICT Efforts

ZARIA ACADEMY has just been nominated to benefit from the Wireless Cloud Project, a Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) initiative under its Schools’ Support Program.

This unprecedented development was communicated to the Academy via a letter dated May 5th, 2016 which highlighted the immense benefit of this program to ZARIA ACADEMY as well as the infrastructure to be provided by the commission for the smooth running of this program.

This project which will last 12 months in its initial stage would provide ZARIA ACADEMY with bandwidth supply and technical maintenance support, all of which is aimed at encouraging the use of ICT in academic development and facilitate easier access to the vast intellectual resources available globally.

Currently, ZARIA ACADEMY has made huge strides towards developing a wholly ICT culture towards education.

Some of the ICT resources already available to the academy include:
1. Two hundred and sixty-five (265) fully networked desktop computers distributed across three computer laboratories which have also been used to conduct JAMB CBT Examination.
2. Wired and wireless Internet connection via our Microtik platform with Globacom as its internet service provider
3. An Electronic learning platform based on the Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE). Moodle is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalized learning environments. This platform is used as a practice medium by students of Zaria Academy in preparations for all types of computer based tests (CBT).

Zaria Academy hopes to use the infrastructure obtained via this project to further enhance it-s position as one of the foremost ICT oriented Schools in Nigeria.
